The Appalachian Mountain Club joined Highlands Coalition partners on January 12, 2012 to celebrate the recent conservation 582 acres in the Oley Hills area of the Pennsylvania Highlands. The acquisition was made possible with nearly $500,000 in federal Highlands Conservation Act funds, provided through the Land and Water Conservation Fund. The Highlands Conservation Act was sponsored by Congressman Jim Gerlach, who attended the event in support of the project.
Berks Conservancy worked closely with the Appalachian Mountain Club, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Highlands Coalition, and other partners to make this project possible.
