A great victory for clean air and water happened today
on the Senate floor as 53 Senators voted to defeat a resolution (SJ Res 37)
that would have blocked a law to clean up mercury and other toxins from power
plants. The AMC is very thankful to all
of our US Senators who voted for clean air and against this
resolution. This bipartisan support for cleaning up dirty power
plants made the difference. Mercury is a bio-toxin that affects neuro-development in fetus
and children and memory in adults as well as the health of our fish and loons. We
look forward to continuing to work with our Congressional members on clean air
policies that protect the outdoors that we know and love.
