Stand Up for Wildlands in the Adirondack Park

Take action TODAY to protect the Adirondacks! In 2010 New York State agreed to purchase 92,000 acres in conservation easements and to purchase an additional 65,000 acres for the “Forever Wild” Forest Preserve. Now the carefully crafted plan to make the 65,000 acres of spectacular conservation and recreation forest lands Forever Wild, is under threat. The Forever Wild acres, once purchased and transferred to the state will become open and available to the public — for the first time in over a century — for hiking, skiing, fishing and other recreational uses. Tell Governor Cuomo to stand up for the Adirondacks!

In 2010, New York State completed the purchase of 92,000 acres in conservation easements; however a small but vocal group is calling on the Governor and the Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner to back out of the Forever Wild agreement and only purchase additional conservation easements. This proposal would undermine a carefully balanced project that is a sound investment in the local economy and in the ecological integrity of Adirondack Park.

Please take a stand for wildlands in the Adirondack Park and sign the petition to Governor Cuomo TODAY!
